Admissions

A process built
around your
child's story.

We don't rush enrollment. Every family starts with a discovery call, visits our environment, and gets to experience what IA is really like , before any decisions are made. No diagnosis required.

Rolling admissions , apply anytime space is available
The Six Steps
1. Discovery Call — 30 minutes to connect, share your child's story, and ask every question
2. Meet & Greet — Come see IA in person, walk through our environment, meet the team
3. Application — When you're ready, submit your application online
4. Family Interview — A deeper conversation about your child and your goals
5. Trial Days — Two half-days fully immersed in life at IA
6. Enrollment Decision — Within 10 to 14 business days of trial days
Little Lights , our early intervention program for learners starting as young as age 3 , follows the same admissions process. Ask us about it on your call.

Six steps from
hello to first day

Our admissions process is relational from the very first call. Here's exactly what to expect , no surprises, no pressure, no rushing.

1
First Step
Discovery Call

The easiest way to get started. Book a 30-minute call directly on our Calendly — no paperwork, no forms, no pressure. This is your chance to share your child's story, ask every question you have, and get a real sense of whether IA is the right fit. We want to know your family before you ever walk through our doors.

Prefer to text? Reach us at 615.487.9944 and we'll get you on the calendar within 24 to 48 hours.
2
Come See Us
Meet & Greet

After your discovery call, we'll invite you in for a meet and greet at our Nashville learning environment. You'll walk through our classrooms, meet the team, see the House of Growth in action, and get a real feel for what life at IA looks like. No commitment — just clarity.

Bring your child if possible. There's no better way for them — and for you — to get a genuine sense of whether this is the right home for them. We'll have about an hour together.
3
When You're Ready
Submit Your Application

Once your meet and greet confirms IA feels like the right fit, we'll invite you to apply. The application gives us the deeper picture of your child — their learning profile, communication style, goals, and current level of support needed.

Rolling admissions — we accept applications year-round based on available space. You don't need to wait for a specific enrollment window.
4
Getting Deeper
Family Interview

After reviewing your application, we'll schedule a family interview , a dedicated conversation to go deeper on your child's history, your family's goals, and how we can build the strongest possible plan together from day one. This step is as much for your family as it is for us.

Come with your questions, your hopes, and your honest picture of where your child is right now. This is a partnership conversation, not an evaluation.
5
The Real Experience
Trial Days

Two half-days fully immersed in the life of an IA student. Your child experiences our classrooms, our team, and our rhythms , not as a visitor, but as a learner. It's the best possible way for everyone to know this is the right fit before enrollment is confirmed.

What a trial day looks like: Morning arrival & welcome → Classroom time in their track → Movement & sensory break → Lunch & snack → Full exposure to everything in a typical morning. We'll connect at pickup to share a win from the day , and you'll be added to ClassDojo, where our team posts notes and photos throughout.
6
Welcome to IA
Enrollment Confirmed

After trial days, our team follows up with an enrollment decision , typically within 10 to 14 business days, depending on when you're looking to begin. Once confirmed, you'll receive onboarding materials and everything needed to prepare for your child's first official day.

Families meet with our team four times per year to review progress, revisit goals, and plan ahead together. You are a partner from day one , not just a bystander.

Two half-days that
tell the whole story.

Trial days aren't an audition , they're an immersion. Your child gets to live a real morning at IA before any enrollment decision is final.

Morning Arrival & Welcome
A warm, structured start. Your child is greeted by our team, oriented to the space, and eased into the morning routine at their own pace.
Classroom Time in Their Track
Placed in the track that best fits their current profile, your child experiences what explicit instruction, enrichment, and real learning looks like at IA.
Movement & Sensory Break
Brain & Body Breaks are part of every single day at IA. Your child experiences structured movement designed to support regulation and readiness to learn.
Lunch & Snack
Shared mealtimes are a meaningful part of our community. Your child joins their classroom peers in the social rhythms of a typical IA day.
Full Morning Exposure
Transitions, routines, relationships, and the culture of IA , all of it on full display. No performance. Just real life, exactly as it happens every day.

Paced with
intention.

Trial days are two half-days , not one long day. We've found this pacing gives learners the best chance to settle in, feel regulated, and genuinely show us who they are.

Our staff observe how your child responds to our environment, our team, and our rhythms , not to evaluate, but to make sure we can set them up for real success from day one if enrollment moves forward.

At pickup each day, we'll connect to share a win from the day. You'll also be added to ClassDojo , our staff-to-family communication app , where our team posts notes and photos so you can see your child's experience in real time.

Ready to Start?

Your first step is
a conversation.

Things families
often ask us

Does my child need a diagnosis to apply?
+
No diagnosis is required to apply or enroll at Illuminate Academy. We serve neurodivergent learners, including those with Autism, social communication differences, sensory processing needs, or trauma histories, but we welcome every family to start with a discovery call. We'll have an honest conversation about your child and whether IA is the right environment for them.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
+
No. We support learners where they are. Potty training is not a requirement for enrollment at Illuminate Academy. Our team is trained to meet each learner's needs across all areas of daily life, and we will talk through specifics during your discovery call and family interview.
Are there training opportunities for families?
+
Absolutely. Family training is something we are deeply committed to. Throughout the year we offer training opportunities for enrolled families, and we also provide additional ways to invest dedicated time with our core clinical team for strategy, training, tactical support, and practical tools you can use at home. Beyond that, we are building out our podcast, blog, and YouTube page with free content designed to educate, encourage, and connect our community — so families have access to what we know even outside of IA's walls.
What is Little Lights?
+
Little Lights is our early intervention program for learners starting as young as age 3. It follows the same House of Growth framework — Safety, Regulation, Communication, Meaningful Skills — and uses the same admissions process. Ask us about it on your discovery call and we'll walk you through everything.
Can we apply mid-year?
+
Yes. We offer rolling admissions. You can apply at any time throughout the year. Enrollment is based on available space, so we encourage families to start the process as soon as they're interested rather than waiting for a specific window.
What if my child needs additional one-on-one support?
+
Our typical classroom ratios are 1:3 to 1:5. For learners who need more individualized support, that is a carefully considered decision — not a hasty one — made within our framework for support. Additional one-on-one support does come at an added cost to the family. We will walk through this transparently during your family interview so there are no surprises.
Do you provide speech therapy and occupational therapy?
+
At Illuminate Academy, speech and occupational therapy are not isolated services — they are woven into everything we do. We consult with speech and language and occupational therapy specialists to build a comprehensive support model for each learner. Our staff are trained to elicit, facilitate, and support communication and regulation throughout the full learning day, in a sensory-rich, brain-based environment designed with the same intentionality a skilled OT or speech and language specialist would bring. The whole environment is the intervention.
What happens if my child has a hard moment during trial days?
+
Trial days are designed to show us your child as they actually are, not a curated version. If a hard moment comes up, our team responds with the same leveled, dignity-first, trauma-informed support we use every single day. Seeing how your child responds to our environment, including hard moments, gives us valuable information about how to support them best from day one.
How long does the full process take?
+
The timeline varies depending on your family's pace and our current availability. From your discovery call through trial days, most families move through the process over several weeks. After trial days, we follow up with an enrollment decision within 10 to 14 business days.
How are families involved once enrolled?
+
Families are active partners, not bystanders. You'll be involved in goal-setting from day one, receive coaching on strategies to use at home, and meet formally with our team four times per year to review progress and plan ahead together.
What is the schedule?
+
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, August through May. Fridays are not learning days. We also offer Camp Illuminate in the summer — six weeks of themed programming for campers ages 3 and up.
