Who we are and what this covers
Illuminate Academy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a neuroaffirming school at 1033 Burchwood Ave in Nashville, Tennessee. We run illuminateacademy.org and offer live online workshops for parents, including Hard Moments, Clear Answers (the “Workshop”).
This policy covers the Workshop pages on our website, registration and checkout, the live session, replays, and the emails we send about them. It does not cover information the school collects about enrolled students and their families, which is handled separately.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Registration and checkout. Your name and email address, and the billing details you enter at checkout. Payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Survey answers. Your answer if we ask how you heard about the Workshop.
- Questions and messages. Anything you type, say, or send us during the Workshop or by email.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data. Browser and device type, IP address, pages viewed, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar tools used by our website platform and analytics. See Cookies and similar technologies.
- Video viewing. The welcome video on our Workshop page is hosted by Google Drive. Google may collect information about how you watch it, under Google’s own privacy policy.
Information from the live session
We may see your name, whether you attended, and what you type in the chat. If you speak or turn on your camera, your voice and image may also be captured. See Recordings and the live session.
What we do not ask for
We do not ask for your child’s name, diagnosis, or medical or school records to register for the Workshop, and we ask you not to send them. If you choose to share details about your child in a question, other attendees may see or hear them, and they may appear in the recording.
How we use your information
- Register you, take payment, and send your confirmation, access link, reminders, and replay.
- Run the Workshop and answer your questions.
- Email you about the Workshop and, where the law allows, about related Illuminate Academy offerings, including the invitation to ongoing parent support described at the end of the Workshop. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Learn how people find us and improve our website and the Workshop.
- Keep our website secure, prevent fraud and misuse, meet legal and tax obligations, and enforce our Terms of Use.
We will not use your information for an unrelated purpose without telling you first.
Recordings and the live session
We may record the live hour so we can send a replay to registrants. A recording can include the chat, the audio of anyone who speaks, and the video of anyone who turns on a camera. Camera and microphone are optional. If you would rather not appear in the recording, keep your camera and microphone off and type your questions in the chat.
Replays are shared only with registrants. We will not use any part of a recording that identifies you in our marketing without your permission.
Email and your choices
If you register, we will email you about the Workshop. Those messages are part of your registration, and you will receive them even if you unsubscribe from other emails. Other emails, such as news and invitations, include an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop emailing you using the contact details at the end of this page. We will honor opt-out requests promptly.
Children’s privacy
Our website and the Workshop are for parents and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
- Registration and payment records: as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and legal reasons.
- Email contact details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Recordings: for as long as we offer the replay, then we delete them or store them privately.
- Website analytics: for the period our analytics tools keep them.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information, and we choose providers that do the same. No website or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please be careful about sharing sensitive information in chat or by email.
Where your information is processed
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed here. If you use our site from another country, you understand that your information will be handled in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing you. Depending on where you live, such as California and other states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights. These can include the right to know what we collect, to delete or correct it, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to be treated the same whether or not you use these rights. We do not sell personal information.
To make a request, use the contact details at the end of this page. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law requires. You can ask an authorized agent to make a request for you.
